What headlines say or don't say

January, 25,2010
Some writers and copy editors have a fantastic way of writing headlines. They manage to say in a few well chosen words what their article is all about. Unfortunately, not everyone has this skill, or seems to care. Read my opinion on the subject below.

Prayers for Haiti

January 21, 2010
When there is nothing else to do for Haiti, you've donated what money you can spare and you are here not there, what else can you do? You can pray for them. Prayers are good thoughts and every action has a reaction and the action of prayer is good.

I signed on for Twitter once again after the earthquake thinking somehow to make a difference. So far, a few tweets and that's it. Yet I will persist and will find a way of gleaning some good out of my Twitter experience. Once before I was on there, simply wanted to know what all the commotion was about. Found it too time consuming and quit. This is my second venture into tweeting. Maybe I will start tweeting prayers.

And speaking of doing good for Haiti, check out some facts about Haiti from Helium. Their "Write for Haiti" is for their Haiti fund. Each article written they donate two dollars to Haiti. Also, the winners of the contest don't get the money, the Haiti fund does. So far I have written about three articles. Plan on doing another sometime today.

See you here tomorrow...

New Year's resoulutions

January 19, 2010

No new years resolutions were made, but nineteen days later I have decided to make blogging my first resolutions. The second is to be more faithful in observance of my daily prayer life. In other words, to take a few extra minutes each morning and pray and reflect upon what it is I should be doing on this day. And possibly a comment or two on my thoughts. We will see how well I carry that out.I will start that by a prayer that I found online.

"Look over me Lord. Make me deserving of the faith that I need to get near you. Forgive my shortage and light my way to the right path. Endow me with the gift of humility and courage to confront the temptations of this world. Please father never live my side and give me a shield to protect against envy from others and my own self pity.
Amen "

As a writer, I am conscious of words. In fact I love them. I was amazed though to learn that others, even those who pray, are as lacking in their skills as I am. Some prayerful soul uploaded that prayer to Catholic. org without spell checking. I am often guilty of that. The two words above I edited were humility and temptation. I also added a comma, or thought to, after "please father". I then decided to leave well enough alone. Thanks to whomever.
